VOLKSFEST is held every year in Adelaide’s Elder Park on the southern bank of the River Torrens – moments away from the Adelaide Oval (prettiest cricket ground in the world), if you are going via Schwimmwagen. And yes, this year there was one example of Volkswagen’s amphibious vehicle on show, which is a good indication that Volksfest brings together every branch of VW’s extensive family tree.

Naturally, there was a swarm of Beetles and stacks of Kombis, but we were also stoked to see plenty of Type 3s, a good smattering of Karmann Ghias, some beach buggies and a couple of Country Buggies. Water-cooled Vee Dubs are welcome too. Run by the Volks Enthusiasts Club of South Australia, Volksfest is a great little show, and we’ll be back.
