THE RED Centre Nationals are coming to Alice Springs, 3-6 September. The show is being run by the the Street Machine Summernats crew, so you can bet it is going to be good!

And the whole deal is backed by the Northern Territory Government, which is a pretty cool thing, we reckon.

Of course, locating a show in the middle of the continent presents some logistical challenges for both the organisers and any non-local entrants, but there are plenty of benefits too. For starters, the government has given the go-ahead for special permits for super-tough, unregistered vehicles to be able to cruise the streets without fear of a canary for the duration of the event.

Alice Springs is going to be a pretty exciting place with a large pack of blown streeters prowling the streets! As you would expect from the Summernats crew, there is a very full program to contend with, including:

• Quarter mile drag racing
• A Burnout Masters qualifying round
• Dyno competition
• Show and Shine
• Grass driving events
• The first Red Centre Champion award
• Live music and lots more

The organisers have been floored by the interest shown in the event, with a bunch of Elite car owners already having stuck their hands up, including Shane Harvey (GRUNTA), Dave Keen (1BADFJ), Nathan Borg (current Summernats Grand Champ) and Brian Willis’s famous HK Monaro.
