LAST Friday night we were at Calder Park filming for the next episode of our Carnage video series. Those who were at the track for the test and tune night will know what went down – let’s just say viewers can expect to see some real carnage! The episode will drop next Thursday, so stay tuned.

Our reigning Drag Challenge champ, Quentin Feast, was there with his seven-second twin-turbo LS-powered Holden Torana. Q and co really have the car dialled in now, and it reeled off a 7.96-second quarter straight off the trailer, before backing that up with a handful of high sevens over the course of the evening. Quentin and tuner Mark McCoy were playing around with the traction control features on their MoTeC ECU and it worked a treat, but ultimately it’s more fun without.

John Hondrakis was once again out racing his VE Commodore, G8PSI, and chasing some lower ETs since going high eights late last year. Powered by a 427ci LSX and single Garrett GTX55 combination, with a TH400 trans and nine-inch rear end, the car comfortably makes 1000rwhp. After running a PB of 8.73 on his first pass of the night, John finished up with an even quicker time of 8.56. Is there a quicker street-driven VE Commodore out there?

There were a couple of other really quick race cars there too, including Craig Munro’s twin-turbo big-block Commodore, TRYHARD. Despite coming unstuck at half-track, it still went 8.10. Steve Athans also had his twin-turbo big-block Mustang out and went 7.70 with a pedal at almost the exact same spot as Craig.
